Eastspring Investments Appoints New CIO

Eastspring Investments, the asset management subsidiary of Prudential, announced the appointment of Vis Nayar as its new Chief Investment Officer (CIO), set to begin in his role on June 3.

Nayar, who previously held the position of global CIO for equities at HSBC Asset Management, will be based in Singapore. In his new role, he will report to Bill Maldonado, the CEO of Eastspring, and will become a member of the executive management committee.

Maldonado, who has served as the interim CIO of Eastspring since September 1, 2023, will hand over his CIO duties to Nayar. This transition was confirmed by Eastspring following inquiries from The Business Times.

Maldonado praised Nayar's extensive experience and leadership qualities, expressing confidence that Nayar's appointment would enhance the firm's performance culture and strengthen its investment products. With a career spanning 25 years at HSBC Asset Management, Nayar has held several key positions, including CIO for Europe and the UK, global head of quantitative equity research, and head of systematic equities.
