Standard Chartered Appoints Samir Subberwal as New Global Head of Wealth Solutions

Standard Chartered has appointed a new global head for its wealth management solutions division.

The bank has chosen Samir Subberwal for the role of global head of wealth solutions, deposits, and mortgages, according to information received by finews.asia. A spokesperson for Standard Chartered confirmed this appointment upon inquiry.

Subberwal brings with him nearly three decades of experience at Standard Chartered. His most recent positions included serving as the Asia head of consumer, private, and business banking, in addition to his role as global head of digital business, based in Hong Kong.

This new appointment comes in the wake of Marc Van de Walle's departure from his position as global head of wealth management, deposits, and mortgages after four years at the British bank. Van de Walle, a veteran with 30 years in the industry, announced his decision to leave the bank for new opportunities that allow him to more directly and comprehensively influence client and profit and loss growth, as he shared on social media. He expressed his belief that the timing was right to embark on a new challenge.
