Cyber security giant Wipro's internal network breached

A hacker gang known as Cloudhopper has breached Wipro’s internal communications system. Technology staff at client companies have traced the source of phishing emails back to Wipro itself.

Some of the banks that rely on Wipro for security, among other services, are Credit Suisse, HSBC, Citi, Barclays and Capitol one.

In a short statement, Wipro said 11 employ email accounts had been hacked and the issue is being dealt with.

In response to the embarrassing security breach, Wipro is said to be quickly building an entirely new internal email system. An official statement added, "We have also retained a well-respected, independent forensic firm to assist us in the investigation. We continue to monitor our enterprise and infrastructure at a heightened level of alertness.”
