Sinyee manages Duff & Phelps’ Compliance and Regulatory Consulting Practice in Singapore. She advises financial services firms on licensing and ongoing Singapore and cross-border regulatory requirements and reviews firms’ risk management, internal controls and compliance arrangements. Sinyee has advised a range of firms from banks, trust companies, private equity fund managers, venture capital fund managers, hedge fund managers, external asset managers, remittance companies and fintechs on a range of regulatory issues from licensing to ongoing obligations. Recent areas on which Sinyee has advised firms on include personnel fit & proper requirements, preparation of regulatory filings and reports, outsourcing, data privacy, business continuity, anti-money laundering & counter financing of terrorism controls, cybersecurity & technology risk management, cryptocurrency and fintech regulations. Sinyee conducts internal audits and gap analyses of firms’ internal controls and compliance and risk management systems. Before joining the firm, Sinyee practiced in the Hong Kong and London offices of a top City law firm. Her practice areas were contentious financial services regulation and white collar investigations. From 2008 to 2014, Sinyee worked at the Monetary Authority of Singapore and has handled various roles including enforcement, investigating and prosecuting market abuse and mis-selling, and financial market strategy development. Sinyee is admitted to practice law in Singapore, Hong Kong, England and New York. She speaks English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien, Japanese and French.
