On December 7th, Hubbis will present a fascinating Digital Dialogue event focusing on the rapidly evolving world of digital assets, from cryptocurrencies to digital coins and tokens. Our panel of experts will focus their attention on the evolution of this market segment, which despite a host of setbacks in the past year - such as some headline collapses of digital exchanges and brokerages - seems to be constantly expanding and with increasing energy.

Our experts will address key developmental issues, including the need to fast-forward regulation and governance, and to make this all more global and more consistent. They will look at the positives, discuss the negatives, and put into a realistic context why Asia’s private clients might be considering investing in these markets, and if so, what they might think about buying, and how they can do so safely.

Most importantly, our panel will elaborate on why they believe that the digital asset industry will continue to move more rapidly mainstream, with specialist trading, execution and digital asset custody firms rising up and also becoming recognised and better regulated by leading authorities in many key jurisdictions, thereby lending the industry an ever more visible air of authority and legitimacy.

Witness, for example, the early July (2023) utterances from BlackRock CEO Larry Fink on Bitcoin, when he sought to promote the virtues of investing in cryptos and digital assets via mainstream, publicly traded and traditionally regulated ETFs, in order to offer investors safer routes into this esoteric asset class.

Well, Bitcoin might [by September 11] be trading at $25600, in other words just 40% of its all-time high of a shade over USD64,000 in November 2021. But on the other hand, the right timing can see huge gains – the September 11 price was some 55% higher than the two-year low of just over USD16,500 hit only in December 2022.

Whatever the volatility of these larger cryptocurrencies – of which Bitcoin is the bellwether - the panel will seek to look through these vacillations in order to demystify the expanding universe of digital assets and explain to delegates why these developments are taking place, and how private investors can participate, and do so safely, navigating the emerging developments taking place to create a more complete professional market infrastructure and ecosystem.

While it is still early days in the expansion of the universe of digital assets, the increased awareness around the world, the increasing uptake amongst investors, improving understanding, better regulation, a more professional type of infrastructure and better guidance are all combining to build a more robust platform for the market’s expansion in the years ahead.

There are also huge hopes held out for tokenisation, which can democratise and make liquid access to a huge range of assets, including many such as commercial properties, art and collectables and other relatively illiquid real-world.
