BNY Mellon, Maybank launch Asia small-cap fund

BNY Mellon Investment Management, a multi-boutique asset manager, and Maybank Asset Management, have jointly launched the BNY Mellon Asia Rising Stars fund.

The fund will combine BNY Mellon’s Japan small-cap expertise with that of Maybank in Asia ex-Japan small cap.

BNY Mellon Asset Management in Japan will manage the Japanese small-cap equities portion, and Maybank Asset Management in Singapore will manage the Asia ex-Japan small-cap portion.

Focusing on companies with a market cap below USD5 billion, the fund will seek to provide capital growth by investing in Asian small-cap companies that are listed on recognised exchanges in Asia, including Japan.

The fund is part of BNY Mellon’s Dublin based Mellon global fund range, and will be available in Singapore dollar and US dollar share classes, to accredited investors in Singapore and Hong Kong, and to Singapore retail investors.

The plan is to make the fund accessible to Malaysian investors subject to regulatory approval as well.
