Schroders announces Co-Heads of Asia Pacific

Schroders, a global asset management company, has announced the appointment of Chris Durack and Susan Soh as Co-Heads of APAC, effective as of Q2 2020.

The appointments of Durack and Soh come following the promotion of Lieven Debruyne, the previous sole Head of APAC, to the role of Global Head of Distribution. He was promoted to the role in January 2020.

Durack was previously the CEO of Schroders Australia, a role which he has retained alongside his promotion to Co-Head of APAC. Durack was appointed as CEO of Australia in Q4 2018, and first joined Schroders in 2011 as the firm’s Head of Distribution for Australia. From 2016 to 2018, he led Schroders’ Hong Kong business.

Soh, similarly, will also continue in her role as Head of Schroders Singapore alongside her new responsibilities as Co-Head of APAC. Soh was appointed as Chair of the Investment Management Association of Singapore (IMAS) committee in 2019, taking over from Nicholas Hadow who was the Chairman since 2013, taking on the role from her previous posting as Deputy Chair. Soh also Heads Schroders’ Southeast Asian distribution business.

Schroders has also announced the appointment of Noriaki Kurose as Head of Japan, joining the firm from Pictet Asset Management, where he was Managing Director, Senior Executive Officer, Head of Institutional & Retail Sales Division, according to his LinkedIn.

Kurose succeeds Shigesuke Kashiwagi, who was appointed as President and Country Head of Japan in 2016, who himself joined Schroders from Nomura.
