Robeco announces appointment of CIOs and Deputy CEO

Robeco has announced the appointment of Victor Verberk and Mark van der Kroft as Chief Investment Officers (CIOs), with Karin van Baardwijk being announced as Deputy Chief Executive Officer (deputy CEO), in addition to her role as Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Victor Verberk, currently deputy CIO, has been appointed CIO - Fixed Income and Sustainability. In this capacity, Verberk will be responsible for Robeco’s Fixed Income teams and Sustainable Investing. In addition, he will remain portfolio manager of Robeco Global Credits, the firm said in a press release.

Mark van der Kroft has been appointed CIO Fundamental and Quant Equity. He is currently Co-Head of Quant Equity and Head of Trends and Thematic Investing, and in his new role will be responsible for Robeco’s Fundamental and Quantitative Equity teams.

Karin van Baardwijk will act as the formal backup for Robeco’s CEO, Gilbert Van Hassel. She will work closely with Van Hassel on all aspects of the business, reports the firm.

Gilbert Van Hassel, CEO, Robeco, said: “I’m very pleased that we have filled these key Executive Committee positions from our own ranks, which underlines the strength of our organization. The complementary sets of skills that Mark and Victor bring to the table provide robust leadership for our investment organization. In addition, this structure allows Victor to combine this role with his portfolio management activities. Mark has decades of experience both in Investments and Sales, including CIO Equity Investments, which makes him the perfect match for this role.”

“Karin is a dedicated and inclusive leader who has shown strong leadership over the past couple of years in her role as COO. I’m confident that in her new role as Deputy CEO, she will continue to add even more value to setting and executing our strategy, which will contribute to helping our clients achieve their financial and sustainability goals, and create both wealth and well-being,” Van Hassel continued.
