RBC appoints new Head of Wealth Management for Asia
Terence Chow has been announced as the new Head of Wealth Management for the Royal Bank of Canada’s Asia wealth management operation, following Peter Corry’s retirement from the position.
Chow has worked with RBC for nearly 15 years in total, temporarily leaving the firm from 2003-2005. He has held a number of senior roles with the firm, including heading RBC’s Canadian Wealth Management operations, and was head of strategy and execution for the bank’s Global Capital Markets Operations.
Prior to joining RBC, Chow was a senior financial analyst for Scotiabank, having been based out of Toronto, Canada. From February 2019 to the announcement of his new appointment, Chow was the Chief Operating Officer for RBC Wealth Management’s Asia operation.
Chow brings experience in developing long-term growth strategies, having built efficient operating platforms and utilised technology to enhance customer experience with the bank, and improve the relationship between the client and front office representatives.
Douglas Guzman, the Group Head for RBC Wealth Management, said of Chow’s appointment that “as we focus on further strengthening our position in a competitive market, Terence’s ability to build and leverage global partnerships to deliver the best of RBC to our clients will bolster the exceptional service we provide in the region.”
The opportunity for Chow has come following the announcement of Peter Corry’s retirement following over two decades with RBC.
Corry has held a variety of senior roles in his time with the bank, spanning trading finance, performance management and business advisory. He has accumulated over 35 years of experience in the industry, having been based out of Singapore during his time as the Head of Wealth Management for Asia.
On Corry’s retirement, Guzman added that ““I want to extend my sincere thanks to Peter for his leadership and dedication to successfully positioning our wealth management business in Asia for growth, while delivering significant value and new opportunities for our clients in the region. Following such a distinguished career with our organization, I wish Peter the very best in the next phase of his life.”
With this leadership change, Mike Reed, Chief Executive, RBC Singapore Branch, will lead RBC Wealth Management’s Singapore office and South East Asia private banking team, reporting to Chow.
