JP Morgan Private Bank appoints China Head

Elaine Zhang is reportedly joining JP Morgan Private Bank as a Managing Director, and will be responsible for developing the Bank’s China business from Singapore.

Zhang was most recently Credit Suisse’s market leader for Greater China, Citywire Asia said in a news article, written by Lachlan Colquhoun.

Originally from Shanghai, Zhang has been based in Singapore for two decades and has held banking roles at American Express Private Banking, DBS Bank and at the Bank of China.

In a statement, JP Morgan said Zhang would work with client teams to ‘identify, build, nurture and deepen client relationships” and deliver “complete wealth management solutions’ to clients.

Reporting to James Wey, JP Morgan’s head of Singapore and Southeast Asia, Zhang will also be responsible for attracting new talent to the bank and coaching its China market specialists.

Wey said that the China market was ‘very important’ to JP Morgan, with growing demand from Chinese clients with business or personal interests in Singapore.

These clients, he said, were looking for ‘industry leading offshore private banking services.’

‘Elaine’s long standing wealth management expertise, passion for client services and deep connections across the China market in Singapore make her ideally positioned to help us continue to growth our business and best serve our clients,’ Wey said.
