GoBear appoints new Chief Financial Officer

GoBear, a leading financial services and data platform, has announced that it has appointed Kent Huang as its new Chief Financial Officer.

Huang reportedly brings two decades of experience to his new role, garnered across finance roles in Asia Pacific, according to an article by The FinTech Times.

He joins GoBear from Funding Societies, an SME digital financing platform, at which he was Group Head of Finance, responsible for leading all aspects of finance, according to his LinkedIn. Prior to this role, he was Head of Finance, APAC for global financial platform firm Intuit.

In addition, he has been affiliated with the likes of PayPay, AkzoNobel and GE Money, the latter of which saw him based in New Zealand, initially beginning his career in Taiwan with American Express.

In his new role, Huang will report to Adrian Chng, GoBear’s CEO, and is replacing Frank Stevenaar in the role. Huang will be responsible for the firm’s inancial, legal and regulatory activities and helping accelerate the business’ next phase of growth.

Adrian Chng, CEO, GoBear, said: “Following our recent funding round, GoBear is accelerating the expansion of our financial services platform across three growth pillars: an online financial supermarket, digital insurance brokerage, and digital lending, all built on a strong foundation of alternative data. With this rapid expansion, it’s crucial that we have on board a strong senior team and Kent brings with him a hands-on approach to building and scaling businesses by developing strategic initiatives that deliver measurable results across an organisation. We’re looking forward to tapping into his expertise.”

Kent Huang, CFO, GoBear, said: “I’m driven by a personal goal to make a positive impact on society and help others achieve their financial aspirations. The prospect of contributing to GoBear’s mission of improving people’s financial health is close to my heart and I’m very excited to get started.”

In line with the team’s vision for its next stage of growth, GoBear also strengthened its senior management by welcoming Valeriy Gasratov as Chief Information Technology Officer, Jinnee Lim as Chief Strategy Officer in March, and Mike Singh from AsiaKredit as Chief Lending Officer in May.
