Franklin Templeton makes foray into Indonesia with launch of new mutual fund

Franklin Templeton collaborates with Bahana TCW to launch U.S. equity-focused investment product, Bahana US Opportunity Sharia Equity USD.

Franklin Templeton has collaborated with PT Bahana TCW Investment Management, an Indonesia-based leading investment management company and a subsidiary of Indonesia Financial Group, to launch Bahana US Opportunity Sharia Equity USD. The fund is distributed by Bank DBS Indonesia.

This collaboration marks the first time that Franklin Templeton will offer one of its investment strategies in Indonesia. The Bahana US Opportunity Sharia Equity USD fund is based on a portfolio managed by ClearBridge Investments, a specialist investment manager of Franklin Templeton, and has been modelled to be in line with Sharia guidelines.

The fund will provide individual investors in Indonesia with a new and diversified investment opportunity, via Bahana TCW, that caters to a growing interest in investing in global companies. The new investment product is the first Sharia mutual fund in Indonesia that focuses on investing in companies largely based in the U.S. with technology, healthcare, financials and consumer discretionary forming the key sectors in the portfolio. This product is actively managed using environmental, social and governance (ESG) investing principles.
