Credit Suisse appoints Head of Wealth Management for Thailand

Credit Suisse has announced that Edwin Tan has been appointed Head of Wealth Management Thailand, in addition to his current role as Head of Advisory and Sales, Thailand.

In his expanded function, Tan will report functionally to Marcus Slöör, Market Group Head Thailand and Vietnam, and locally to Chris Prasertsintanah, Country Manager, Thailand, with a dotted reporting line to Claude Harbonn, Head of Investment Consulting, Singapore.

His new expanded role will see Tan focus on expanding the Bank’s presence in Thailand, an important and fast-growing market for Credit Suisse, as the firm aims to continue its delivery of comprehensive solutions to Thai clients, for both their personal wealth and their businesses.

Tan is a well-known industry veteran, says Credit Suisse, with more than two decades of financial industry experience, having spent 18 years covering the Thai market. He has an established track record of strong leadership and in-depth investment consulting knowledge across multi-asset classes and solutions. He brings with him deep domestic knowledge to advance our Thailand franchise growth plans.

Prior to re-joining Credit Suisse in February 2020, Edwin was Head of Investment Advisory & Solutions for SCB Julius Baer, where he built the foundation of the joint venture for their Thailand business. Tan has spent a total of 11 years with Credit Suisse in various senior positions including as Head of Singapore/Thailand Investment Consulting from 2012 to 2018, the Bank said in a press release.

Marcus Slöör, Market Group Head Thailand and Vietnam, Private Banking South Asia, Credit Suisse, said: “Credit Suisse was the first international wealth manager to establish a presence in Thailand in 2016. We are delighted to have Edwin Tan, a highly experienced international banker with a strong understanding of the Thai market, to lead our wealth management business. His extensive management experience, coupled with his deep knowledge of the Thai market, will be invaluable to further growing our wealth management franchise in Thailand.”

Chris Prasertsintanah, Thailand Country Manager, Credit Suisse, said: “Thailand is a key growth market for Credit Suisse. We have been serving Thai clients since 2000, providing financing and advisory services, ranging from capital markets transactions, M&A advisory, structured finance as well as trading. With a strong wealth management team on board, we continue to be in a unique position where we can deliver comprehensive solutions to our Thai clients for both their personal wealth and their businesses, as they increasingly look to diversify their assets and expand their businesses.”
