Citi Appoints Aveline San as CEO for Hong Kong & Macau

Citi has announced the appointment of Aveline San as Chief Executive Officer for Hong Kong and Macau, effective immediately.

In her new role, Aveline is responsible for the Citi businesses in the two markets, including fostering key client and regulatory relationships. Aveline is also the Chief Executive of Citibank N.A., Hong Kong Branch. She reports to Tim Monger, Head of the North & East Asia Cluster.

Aveline has 25 years of experience in banking. She joined Citi in April 2019 as Regional Chief Compliance Officer for Asia Pacific (APAC). Prior to that, she was with UBS where she spent 14 years in various senior management positions, including APAC Group Regional Head of Compliance & Operational Risk Control and General Counsel of Wealth Management for North Asia.

Commenting on the appointment, Tim Monger said, “Hong Kong is a key growth market and regional hub for Citi. As we continue to grow our wealth management and institutional clients business in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, Aveline’s deep understanding of the operating environment and key issues in the region make her the ideal leader to steer the Hong Kong franchise forward.”

Aveline succeeds Angel Ng who was appointed Asia Head of Citi Global Wealth in April.
