Citi Announces Senior Appointments of Five Singaporeans across Asia Pacific

Citi Singapore announces promotions of five team members.

Citi has announced the appointment of five Singaporeans to senior positions across Asia Pacific in various business groups.

Gary Chan has been appointed Taiwan Head of Integrated Corporate Bank effective October 1st, 2021. He will be taking over from Vivian Tan who will be retiring from Citi after 21 years of service. Gary was most recently the Singapore Head of Integrated Corporate Bank and has been instrumental in developing the Singapore Corporate Bank to what it is today. He joined Citi in 1997 in the Commercial Bank and held a number of coverage and leadership roles in Treasury and Trade Services (TTS), Corporate Finance, Capital Markets Operations and Corporate Bank across London, Vietnam and Singapore, before assuming his current role in 2016.

Chan San-San has been appointed Private Banking High Net Worth Head for Asia Pacific effective July. In this role, she will lead and drive the growth of the High Net Worth (Net worth USD 10 to 25 mil) segment to meet Citi’s ambitions in this space. This will include serving these HNW clients’ private banking needs with excellence; developing and implementing a focused strategy which will involve platform product integration and robust client acquisition; expanding staffing of banker teams; and, overseeing the end-to-end expansion and ongoing management of this segment. San-San will continue to be based in Singapore and will join the Global Private Bank Leadership Team as well as the Citi Global Wealth Asia Management team. San-San joined Citi in 2003 as a Management Associate in the Global Consumer Bank.

Based in Singapore, Kelvin Goh has been appointed Asia Pacific Head of Financial Institutions Group for Investment Banking and the appointment is effective immediately. He was most recently the Asia Pacific Head of Insurance, Financial Institutions Group, Investment Banking. In his new role, Kelvin will continue to serve as Singapore Head of Corporate Finance for Investment Banking. Kelvin joined Citi in 2018 and has over 17 years of experience in Investment Banking.

Gilbert Ng has been appointed Singapore Head of Integrated Corporate Bank effective immediately. He will be responsible for clients belonging to the Corporates, Financial Institutions and Public Sector groups. He will also have oversight of the Global Subsidiaries Group. Gilbert joined Citi in 2006 as a Management Associate and has broad experience across the Institutional Clients Group and Global Consumer Bank in various client coverage, product management and business leadership roles. He was most recently Head of Global Subsidiaries Group Singapore. Before that, he was a senior banker and team head covering key Local Corporates and Public Sector clients in Singapore. In his new role, Gilbert will continue to be based in Singapore.

Toh JianXun (JX) has been appointed as Co-Head of TMT, Asia Corporate Bank effective immediately. JX will continue to serve in his current role as Head of TMT for China Corporate Bank where he has played a critical role in strengthening Citi’s position as the key bank for some of China’s most important technology clients. JX joined Citi in 2010 and moved to China Corporate Bank in 2013, where he has held a number senior positions across different businesses including Corporate Finance. JX will continue to be based in China, Shenzhen.

The bank has also recently announced the appointments of two other Singaporeans, Serene Gay as the Head of Credit Cards & Personal Loans for Citibank Singapore and Faye Ong as the Citi Private Bank Head of Family Office Advisory for Asia.
