Citi announces new CEO for Asia Pacific

Peter Babej has been announced as Citibank’s new Chief Executive Officer for Asia Pacific, having been with the bank for nearly 10 years.

Babej first joined in 2010 as the co-head of the financial institutions group, taking over the position from interim CEO Tim Monger, who will now focus on his responsibilities as the bank’s Chief Financial Officer for Asia Pacific, according to a report by the Business Times.

In his new role, Babej will be based in Hong Kong, drawing on his “deep knowledge” of the financial services landscape in Asia, a region in which Citi Group continues to see great opportunities, namely fast-growing digital adoption, as referenced in a statement by the bank.
