BEA Strengthens Customer Protection Measures

The Bank of East Asia, with reference to the government’s latest measures to maintain social distancing, and to follow the subsequent announcement by the Hong Kong Association of Banks, has announced enhanced customer protection measures to help mitigate the spread of the Coronavirus.

These new measures will be implemented as of 31st March, 2020, and include markings on branch floors to direct customer queueing to maintain social distance; opening only alternate counters or service desks as is feasible; and reminding customers not to congregate at branches.

The following measures implemented will continue to be in place: Customers’ temperatures are taken before entering branches; customers will be required to wear surgical masks; hand sanitiser is available to both staff and customers; and customers are encouraged to use the Bank’s digital banking services, such as Cyberbanking and the BEA App whenever possible.

In addition, the bank has announced the closure of a further 5 branches: Shek Tong Tsui, iSQUARE, Whampoa Garden, Fanling and Park Central.
