Amundi announces Senior Appointments as it Emphasises Growth in the Greater China Markets

Amundi, the leading European asset manager, has announced a number of senior appointments as it emphasises the growth in the Greater China markets.

Xiaofeng Zhong is appointed Chairman of Amundi Greater China, and Clare Zhao joins Amundi as Managing Director, Head of China Business, the firm said in a press release.

Xiaofeng Zhong joined Amundi Hong Kong Limited in November 2011 as Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Sales and Marketing, and was appointed Chief Executive Officer, North Asia in September 2012. Prior to joining Amundi, Mr Zhong worked at Crédit Agricole Group from 1996, holding various positions in France and Greater China mainly within the investment banking arm. His most recent role prior to joining Amundi was Managing Director of CA-CIB Beijing branch.

Zhong has a PhD in Political Studies from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris, DEAs (Postgraduate Diploma) in Political Studies and International Relations, from the Institut d’ Etudes Politiques de Paris, France and an MA (French Language & Literature) from Sun Yat- Sen University in Guangzhou, China.

Clare Zhao joined Amundi in October 2020 as Managing Director, Head of China Business. In this capacity, she oversees Amundi’s China institutional business and leads the QDLP/WFOE teams in Beijing. Prior to joining Amundi, Clare worked at Vanguard since 2012. She was Managing Director, Head of Distribution, mainland China and Hong Kong, leading the development of the company’s business strategy in China. She also managed operations of WFOE office and oversight Beijing Representative Office as the General Manager of the company’s China business since 2017. Before that, Clare served as an ETF sales manager at Value Partners. She also worked at BNP Paribas and Societe Generale as equity and commodity derivatives sales in Greater China.

Clare holds a BA and an MA in Economics from the Beijing Institute of Technology.
