Aberdeen Standard Investments (‘ASI’) has announced that it has appointed Sadayuki Takahashi as Deputy Head of Japan, based in Tokyo.

In this newly created position, he will work closely with Ken Yajima, Chief Executive Officer and Representative Director of ASI Japan, on the development and execution of the company’s Japan business strategy. He will also join the Board of ASI Japan, ASI said in a press release.

Before joining ASI, Takahashi was COO of Distribution and Head of Product Development at Schroders Japan since 2017. In his 14-year career at Schroders, he held several leadership roles, including Head of Product Development, Client Service and Business Management, and contributed to establishing a solid customer service platform based on local client needs. Prior to that, he was with JP Morgan and The Bank of New York in Tokyo for a combined 16 years, where he held senior roles including in client services and global custody.

Over the last few years, it has expanded its team across various functions, strengthened its distribution channels and broadened its offerings of global investment solutions to address Japanese investors’ needs. With the appointment of Takahashi, ASI aims to further strengthen its management structure in Japan as well as its client support functions including client services, operations and business administration.

Ken Yajima, Chief Executive Officer and Representative Director, Japan, Aberdeen Standard Investments, said: “We are delighted to welcome Sadayuki on board. I am confident that his wealth of experience and deep expertise in the asset management industry will contribute to the expansion of our Japan business and strengthen our client engagement.”
