What is the new normal? We all knew reasonably well where we stood when 2019 came to an end, but the COVID-19 crisis has potentially brought a new reality ahead. This first discussion of the Hubbis Digital Dialogue Series will aim to discern what changes this pandemic might bring about, and what changes the wealth management industry must make in any case in order for the incumbent players to survive and thrive, especially in an environment in which potentially the logic for digitally-enabled wealth management becomes even more compelling.

The one-hour discussion will therefore focus on the big picture, analysing how the wealth industry had been evolving, and why, and what aspects of this evolutionary process might henceforth need to be accelerated, or possibly mothballed.

The mission here is to accurately, succinctly and also imaginatively address key issues such as:  the role of the Relationship Manager and the role of technology to achieve enhanced data & analytics and digital delivery; the needs and expectations of the HNW and UHNW clientele, and the demands of the mass affluent market; the need for a more holistic approach to wealth management, far beyond investments and deep into the realm of estate and transition planning; the role of technology in compliance; the challenge of the challengers; the quest to win and retain talent; the offshore WM model and the onshore model; and the relative competitive advantages of big-brand institutions and independent firms.
