Mr Idi Irwan has been involved in the insurance industry since 1997. He started his insurance & finance career in the managerial level at Malaysia National Insurance (MNI) as Senior Manager in Corporate sales team. After the acquisition of MNI by Maybank, he was handpicked to work closely with McKinsey & Co in Corporate Business Project Management Team for their due diligence initiatives to size up the business for the new entity which consists of MNI-Takaful National-Maybank General Assurance. In 2007, the entity found a new name – Etiqa. Under Idi’s management, he and his team has achieved numerous feats over the term of six year there. He was chosen as Munich Re Horst K Jarnott scholarship recipient for Georgia State University. Later he was tasked to build and head the Marketing Strategies and Positioning Division reporting directly to Chief Marketing Officer. The task is to develop marketing strategies and Etiqa’s product positioning in the market. In 2011, Idi was headhunted by HSBC Amanah Takaful to build and develop Commercial Business under their Bancassurance, handling retail bancassurance. His manages insurance sales throughout 42 conventional branches in HSBC and 18 Syariah compliant branches in HSBC Amanah nationwide. Two years after he has been remapped into HSBC Malaysia and is reporting directly to the Head of Wealth of the time. The transformation has granted him a wealth of experience in managing the sales activities, production performance and also sales quality that is expected by HSBC global standards in selling insurance as part of the wealth proposition. Idi co-founded Bill Morrisons International Limited with the idea of distributing wealth products which are not made available to any local or foreign banks in Malaysia. Under his management Bill Morrisons pioneered the offshore financial industry to the world stage in the first year of the company’s establishment. He worked closely with global partners that spans from US, London, Dubai, Luxembourg, Hong Kong and Singapore. Mr Idi completed his studies in Georgia State University, Department of Risk Management and Insurance. He is also a full-fledged Certified Financial Planner and Syariah Registered Financial Planner.
