Jennifer Lai heads the growing team in Henley & Partners Hong Kong Ltd. Jennifer now oversees the major markets of Hong Kong office (including China, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Nepal and Mongolia) and leads the office’s business strategy of extending the firm’s portfolio of Residence and Citizenship Solutions to the ever-increasing number of private clients in the region. Joined Henley & Partners in 2010 when the company established the first Asian Pacific office in the region. She is a renowned expert on International residence and citizenship planning and a private client advisor. She frequently provides trainings to professionals in the financial institutions as well as the consultants in the industry; and she also speaks at seminars, summits, forums, conference related to the residence and citizenship industry. Jennifer has over 15 years of substantial experiences on Chinese market. Fluent in several languages spanning Europe and Asia that provide her unique insights and experiences to her private clients. Prior to joining the firm, she worked for a European risk consultancy firm catering to expanding global companies, where she acquired extensive experience in international risk and mitigation for expanding global companies.

Lawrence Nutting is chief distribution officer, Manulife (International) Limited. He heads up all Manulife’s distribution channels in Hong Kong, covering the agency force and independent distribution including banks, brokers and independent financial advisors. Lawrence plays a key role in further increasing Manulife’s distribution capacity in the territory.

With extensive expertise in distribution management, Lawrence has more than 30 years of experience in insurance marketing. He joined Manulife Hong Kong as assistant vice president, regional agency development and training, Asia, in January 2003, responsible for heading the Manulife University for agency-management development and regional-agency training functions.

He then transferred to Manulife-Sinochem in August 2004 as vice president China agency development and subsequently general manager of the Shanghai branch. Under his leadership, the Branch became the leader in terms of agency sales in Shanghai among foreign-invested insurers.

Lawrence holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master of Business Administration. He has received the designations of Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant. He is also a Fellow of the Life Management Institute.

Angel has more than 20 years of experience in the financial industry. She started her career as an equity analyst with Bank of East Asia. She also held similar role at Mees Pierson Securities (Asia) Ltd, and was an investment strategist at Citibank Private Banking HK.

She previously held senior positions in Dah Sing Private Banking as Head of Investment Advisory; andABN AMRO Private Banking HK as Head of Special Products.

She assumed her current position as Regional Head of Products & Solutions in 2010. She is responsible for managing the Investment Strategy & Portfolio Expertise team, the Investment Products team, the Treasury, Special Products & Dealing teams, the Discretionary Portfolio Management team, the Private Lending team, the Investment Counselling teams, the Wealth Structuring & Estate Planning teams and the Trade & Product Support team.

She is the co-author of “Structured Products, Evolution & Analysis”, and a frequent speaker in industry conferences.

Angel is a CFA, CFP and FRM and holds a bachelor degree in Economics from Hong Kong University.

Seamus is the Vice President of Business Development for Metaco SA. He spent 20 years in investment banking running trading businesses in rates, FX, and derivatives. He has been active as an investor, founder, and builder in the fintech and crypto sectors for the last 8 years. Metaco is a Swiss technology company whose flagship product is SILO. It is a complete cryptocurrency and digital asset wallet infrastructure designed for financial sector firms that need to manage their own private keys or that offer custodial services to their clients. Unlike existing disconnected cold storage custody solutions SILO provides the optimal balance between security and availability and is fully integrated into a client's core banking platform.

Edward has been with Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking in Hong Kong since 2010 and currently serves as Head of Cross Asset Distribution Sales, Private Banks, for Hong Kong and Singapore.

In this role, Edward is responsible for the sales and marketing of Global Markets products to third-party distribution channels, in particular Asian Private Wealth Managers i.e. Private Banks and Discretionary Portfolio Managers.

The product lines under his management encompass cash and derivatives products across all asset classes i.e. Equities, Fixed Income, Interest Rates, FX, Commodities, Hybrids, Bespoke Indices and Fund Derivatives.

Edward joined Societe Generale from Lehman Brothers Hong Kong where he was responsible for the sales distribution of Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities products to third-party distribution channels including private banks and bank treasuries in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Prior to that, Edward worked at BNP Paribas Singapore where he commenced his career as a Global Graduate Trainee in FX Marketing selling FX, FX options, interest rate derivatives and money market products to a wide range of banking and financial services clients including regional banks, central banks, private banks and financial institutions.

Geoffroy De Ridder is Managing Director and Operating Head / Chief Operating Officer at UBS Wealth Management Asia Pacific. He leads the development and management of business-wide strategic initiatives across the wealth management business in the region.  He also has oversight of the Asia Pacific CEO Office (comprising Business Change Management, Business Management, Client Advisor Workplace, Client e-Channels, Pricing Management, Strategy and Business Development), IT Investment Governance, Sales Management and Risk Management. Before assuming this role, he was Head of Strategy & Business Development for UBS Wealth Management globally.  

Prior to joining UBS, Geoffroy worked with several large multinational organizations. He was the Head of Strategy & Strategic projects at Banque Cantonale Vaudoise and Associate Principal at McKinsey & Company. He started his career at Swissair – Atraxis AG as a Project Leader in Operations Research.   

Nick Pollard joined CFA Institute in 2016 as managing director for Asia Pacific. Based in the Hong Kong SAR office, he also oversees operations in Beijing, China and Mumbai, India. Nick is responsible for working with all CFA Institute stakeholders, increasing the number of candidates entering and moving through the organization’s credentialing programs, and working with institutional partners (employers, universities and regulators) throughout the region. He is actively engaged with 21 CFA Institute societies that represent more than 27,000 members in the region. Nick is a seasoned wealth management and banking executive and skilled at growing businesses in Europe and Asia. He brings a unique combination of strategic leadership skills as well as learning and professional development expertise. Prior to joining CFA Institute, Nick was CEO of The Royal Bank of Scotland’s Coutts Asia division and, most recently, he was the Head of International Learning and Professional Development for Coutts International. Nick began his career with NatWest Group, subsequently part of the RBS Group, where he gained experience in marketing and talent development. Nick earned his B.A from University College, London and is a Member of the Private Wealth Management Association. He has lived and worked in the APAC region since 2009 and resides in Hong Kong.

David Varley is Chief High Net Worth Officer at Sun Life Financial in Hong Kong. He specializes in HNW and Ultra HNW Planning and Insurance Structuring solutions for clients and families in Asia. He has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree, with an Honors in Management, and a thesis in Innovation – from Melbourne University. Previously he was Head of HNW for Asia for AXA, and Head of International Business for Aviva.

Prior to Lombard Odier, Alex spent 2 years at BNY Mellon in Hong Kong as Head of Investment and Product for their separately managed account platform. At Credit Suisse he spent 23 years where he held a variety of roles. 2010 to 2013 he was Global Head of International Locations for their Multi-Asset Class Solutions business based in Switzerland.  From 2006-2010 he was based in their Singapore office where he was Head of Asia-Pacific/Middle East for Discretionary Mandates and Portfolio Management. From 2000 to 2005 he was located in Zurich and was Head of the Investment Management Team for European Equities. He joined Credit Suisse in 1990 in the Foreign Exchange Department where he built up his investment expertise and broadened his know-how in relationship management, investment consulting and portfolio management. Alex holds a diploma as a Certified European Financial Analyst and a diploma as a Financial Planner.

He has more than 20 years&#39; experience in investment banking and Financial Services industry, worked for top-tier global banks including Bankers Trust, Macquarie and Deutsche Bank and Global Financial Technology providers like SunGard before he founded AGDelta in 2004.</p> <p>Andrew is a frequent speaker at Wealth Management industry thoughts-leadership forums and an active industry participant in helping define and promote standards in the electronic trading of wealth investment products. Over the past 10 years he has been actively engaging retail and private banking institutions globally in transforming their business by leveraging E-commerce and digital channel models and technology.</p> <p>Andrew is active in the wider entrepreneurial community and was awarded in late 2013 the Spirit of the Enterprise Honoree Award in Singapore. Mr. Ma has been involved in the wealth management & investment banking field for over 33 years. Mr. Ma received his Master of Science in Accounting and Finance from the Oklahoma State University, U.S.A. He is a PRC Hong Kong citizen & married with 1 child. Mr. Alvin W.K. Ma is now Head of Private Banking, previously as Head of Emerging Wealth Private Banking {Executive Officer (EO) of both Type 1 & 9 Licence under the HK Monetary Authority (HKMA)}, EFG Bank in Hong Kong responsible for HK, Macau & PRC wealth management business development & marketing. His last position was General Manager and Head of Private Banking (EO of both Type 1 & 4 Licence under the HKMA), China CITIC Bank International Limited (CNCBI) responsible for HK, Macau & PRC wealth management business development & marketing. Prior to joining CNCBI, Mr. Ma was Senior Vice President, Private Banking, EFG Bank in Hong Kong responsible for HK, Macau & PRC wealth management business development & marketing. Prior to EFG, Mr. Ma was Executive Director & Team Head, Private Banking, Credit Suisse in Hong Kong responsible for HK, Macau & PRC wealth management business development & marketing. Before moving to Credit Suisse, Mr. Ma has been engaged as Executive Director & Desk Head, Wealth Management & Business Banking, UBS AG in Hong Kong responsible for HK, Macau & PRC wealth management business development & marketing. Prior to UBS, Mr. Ma has worked as Regional Head, Investment Sales, North East Asia, Wealth Management, Standard Chartered Bank in Hong Kong & Regional Head, Treasury Advisory, Asia Pacific Region, Standard Chartered Grindlays International in Jersey focusing on asset protection & management advisory, structured investor solutions, white-labeling of asset management advisory products. Capital Markets Group. Mr. Ma had also worked in Deloitte Haskins & Sells and was Syndicated Loan Officer and Dealer at BA Asia Ltd. Capital Markets Group. Mr. Ma is now a AIWM/ HKSI Certified International Wealth Manager (CIWM) Final Exam and CFA Institute Level 2 candidate. Mr. Ma is a licensed person registered under the HKMA. Mr. Ma is Guest Lecturer of Risk Management Science (RMS) Classes of 2008-2014, MSc. in Risk Management Science (RMS), Department of Statistics of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Roger Bacon is a managing director and head of managed investments (mi) & advisory for Citi Private Bank for Asia Pacific ex-Japan. Based in Hong Kong, Roger oversees all MI product sales, Citi Investment Management (CIM) origination and sales and regional MI product administration. He is also responsible for coordinating the regional activities associated with traditional funds research, alternatives research, operational due diligence and CIM portfolio management through a matrix reporting line.

Roger has over 23 years of experience within the asset management industry. He spent the first 10 years of his career with JPMorgan Asset Management and its predecessor companies working in Asia, the UK and Continental Europe, in various relationship management, equity analysis and portfolio management positions. In 2003 he joined a prominent UK family office to set up and manage a substantial multi asset-class investment programme, comprising mainly equities, fixed income, commodities, hedge funds and private equity. In 2004, he joined UBP where, as head of hedge fund business in London, he helped build a multi-billion dollar discretionary and advisory customised hedge fund business targeting UHNWs, Family Offices, Institutions and SWFs.

Roger holds an Honors degree, Postgraduate diploma and MBA in International Financial Services from the University of London. He also holds the Investment Management Certificate, HKSI Practising Certificates in Securities and Asset Management, and HKSI Specialist Certificates in Securities and Asset Management. He was an authorised investment manager and advisor with the Financial Services Authority in the UK for over 11 years, and is currently registered with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority as executive officer, responsible for securities dealing, securities advising and asset management.

Drawing upon his extensive leadership experience and industry knowledge, Arjan is responsible for the entire products and services offering in Asia and overlooks the regional investment strategy. Arjan started his financial career with Hollandsche Bank Unie (HBU), serving Private, Corporate and Institutional clients within a dealing room environment, and subsequently became Head of Treasury & Special Products Private Clients in the Netherlands. He has over 14 years of experience with ABN AMRO Private Banking, of which more than 7 years were spent in Asia. In early 2006, he relocated to Singapore to take up the position of Regional Head of Treasury & Special Products for Private Banking in Asia with ABN AMRO. With his strong understanding of the needs of Asian clients, Arjan moved to Hong Kong in April 2010 and was appointed Head of Private Banking for North Asia. Following this, he was appointed Head of North Asia at ANZ Private Bank before being appointed Head of Integration for ANZ Retail & Private Wealth Asia in April 2016. Arjan was appointed Head of Markets & Investment Solutions Asia at Indosuez Wealth Management in February 2017. Arjan graduated with a Master of Science in Business Economics from Nyenrode University, the Netherlands.

As Deputy Head of Investment Services based in Hong Kong, Maggie Tsui is responsible for the management of the Investment Services teams across Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan of around 60 investment professionals. Additionally, she is in charge of the Treasury for Wealth Management Hong Kong. 

Recently Maggie took up the added role of Regional Head of Financial Product Services. Under this new capacity, Maggie supervises the Financial Product Services teams across Hong Kong, Singapore, China and Taiwan. The teams source and develop products and investment ideas, and execute orders from front offices, Investment Counselors and Direct Access clients.

Maggie joined the Paribas group in 1995 as Head of Transaction team. She was pivotal in setting up the dealing desk for the newly-developed Private Bank in Asia at the time. In 2000, Maggie became Head of Advisory Desk for North Asia, managing a team of dealers and investment advisors. She was also active in providing trade recommendations across all financial products to the private bankers and served a number of UHNW and HNW clients directly.

Prior to joining BNP Paribas, Maggie was in charge of the Corporate Desk in Wardley Ltd for more than 12 years, where she advised institutional clients on currency risk management and fixed income investment.

Maggie received her Bachelor of Social Sciences from The University of Hong Kong in 1980 and was then trained as a spot FX dealer in The Industrial Bank of Japan Hong Kong.

Maggie is married with two sons and enjoys spending her free time with her family. Her interests include reading, hiking and practising calligraphy in her free time.

Paul Smith leads CFA Institute and its more than 130,000 members worldwide in promoting the highest standards of education, ethics, and professional excellence in the investment profession. Smith joined CFA Institute in 2012 as managing director for Asia Pacific, overseeing its expansion into China and India. He later assumed the leadership of its Institutional Partnerships division, which is responsible for engagement with key firms, groups, and associations in the global investment industry. He was appointed president and CEO in January 2015. He brings extensive leadership experience in the investment management industry, having held a variety of positions in major financial centers over 30 years. Smith started his career in asset management at Ermitage International, an alternative funds management company, progressively taking up roles of increasing responsibility across Europe (London, Paris, and Dublin) over 11 years — the last seven as the firm’s CEO. Smith moved to Asia in 1996, just as the region began to take off, to join Bank of Bermuda in Hong Kong as Asia head of securities services. In 2001, he was promoted to global head of funds services. After HSBC’s acquisition of the bank in 2004, he served as HSBC’s global head of alternative funds administration working in Hong Kong and New York, where he was responsible for the delivery of services to 2,000 investment funds with over US$250 billion of assets. He has also pursued entrepreneurial roles, most recently as founder and CEO of the Hong Kong-based hedge fund investment management firm Asia Alternative Asset Partners for six years prior to joining CFA Institute. Asian Investor magazine named him one of the 25 Most Influential People in Asian Hedge Funds. With over 18 years of experience in Asia, Smith is active in the region’s investment community as an Executive Committee member of the Alternative Investment Management Association in Hong Kong. He has also served on the board of a number of Asia-based funds over the years. Aside from being a CFA charterholder, he is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales, and worked as an auditor at Pricewaterhouse in London for four years early in his career. Smith holds a master’s degree in history from Oxford University.

Adam Cowperthwaite is Asia Pacific Head of Capital Markets at Citi Private Bank. In this role he is responsible for the management and development of Citi Private Bank’s cash, derivatives and structured solutions product offerings for Asia Pacific clients across equities, foreign exchange, fixed income & rates, credit and commodities. Adam is an investment and risk management specialist, whose career in equity, fixed income, commodity and alternative-asset derivatives began in London in 1996. Prior to joining Citi in April 2014, he held derivative structuring, sales and sales management positions in London and Hong Kong, at US, European and Japanese investment banks, including J. P. Morgan, Credit Suisse and Daiwa Capital Markets. His clients have included an extensive range of private banks, family offices, corporates, retail banks, asset managers and insurance companies. Adam is a third-generation Hong Kong citizen and a graduate of the London School of Economics.

Reto Fuchs is the founder and director of Skillfox Ltd (Training, Coaching, Consulting).

David Schmid joined Leonteq (formerly EFG Financial Products AG) in 2008 and was appointed Head of Investment Solutions & Banking Solutions in 2017. From 2012 to 2016, he was responsible for Leonteq’s operations in Asia. Between 2008 and 2012 he was part of the Structured Solutions Sales team in Zurich, Switzerland. He started his career with UBS in 2006 where he had been involved in various platform projects for the private banking division. He holds a bachelor degree in Economics with a major in Banking and Finance from the University of Zurich.

Nigel Rivers qualified as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 1989. He practiced law in London, becoming partner of a law firm in 1991. Nigel specialised in corporate and commercial law, with a niche area of clients in sports and entertainment, advising athletes, sports personalities and investors in sports across the globe.

In 1998, Nigel left formal legal practice to join in the establishment of a new Formula One motor racing team, called British American Racing. He was involved in creating, implementing and monitoring the commercial and regulatory arrangements for the team, working directly with the Team Principal as part of the senior management of the sports franchise. The role involved Nigel in the contractual arrangements with drivers, sponsors and merchandise partners, as well as with the governing body of the sport.

After British American Racing was taken over by Honda Motor Company, Nigel established his own law practice to advise athletes and companies involved in sport, particularly in motor racing. He was also engaged in sports management with clients in Formula One, Formula 3, DTM, Le Mans Racing and NASCAR. Nigel advised clients on commercial investments (including acquisition of race circuit and team franchises in multiple countries), sponsorship, endorsement and merchandising arrangements.

In 2008, Nigel and his family moved to Asia and settled in Hong Kong. He joined TMF Group (then Equity Trust) in August 2008 as the head of Private Client Services in Hong Kong. At the start of 2010, Nigel was appointed Head of Private Client Services for the Asia region, and took on the additional role of Managing Director of Hong Kong office. From early 2014 until the end of March 2016, he was the Global Head of Private Client Services. TMF Group has grown to be the largest global independent trust and fiduciary service provider to private clients.

Nigel established Capital Solutions in Hong Kong and Singapore to deliver consultancy and advisory services to clients in relation to their wealth asset needs.

Philippe is CEO and founding partner of London & Capital Asia, an award winning multi-family office that services high net worth clients as a one stop solution. Beyond a standard wealth management offering and corporate advisory solutions for the family business, LCA offers family governance guidance and also provides a forum to source answers to numerous non-financial issues (generational transfer, legal structuring, immigration, family charters etc…).

Philippe has accumulated over 30 years of senior management experience with international banks in private, corporate and investment banking. 

Before founding LCA in 2010, he developed the Asian private banking platform for Rabobank/Sarasin in the late 1990s and subsequently headed the private banking North Asian operations of ABN AMRO. He was previously deputy CEO of BNP Paribas Wealth Management, North Asia, a group for whom he worked for over 13 years. 

Based in Hong Kong since 1995 he has also worked in Europe, North America and India; Philippe is a regular speaker at wealth management and asset management conferences in Asia as well as being a judge for various awards within the industry.

Ms Wong is a HKSI Institute Fellow Member and currently a board member of the HKSI Institute.  In 2014, she is appointed the Chairperson of the Private Wealth Management (PWM) Steering Committee of the HKSI Institute, which provides strategic direction to HKSI to develop and raise the professional standard of PWM key talents.  Ms Wong was the Chairperson of the Private Banking Task Force of the Hong Kong Association of Banks in 2009-2010. 

Ms Wong is a currently a member of the Advisory Committee, Securities & Futures Commission, HKSAR Financial Reporting Review Panel and HKSAR Securities and Futures Appeals Tribunal.  

Ms Wong has extensive experience in the finance industry.  Most recently, she was the Head of Private Banking, Greater China of Credit Suisse AG and was previously the Chief Executive Officer for HSBC Broking Services Asia Limited.

She had worked in other financial institutions including HSBC Private Bank, BNP Paribas Private Bank, Citibank N.A. and the Chase Manhattan Bank N.A. 

She holds a MBA degree at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Hong Kong. 

Tobias Bland has the primary responsibility for managing Enhanced Investment Products. Prior to founding EIP in December 2001, Toby spent 8 years at Jardine Fleming Securities Limited (now JP Morgan), where he was responsible for establishing and running the proprietary trading desk. As the head of proprietary trading, he was responsible for a relative value portfolio invested in South East Asia. Prior to establishing the proprietary trading desk, Toby was involved in convertible bond, tax and warrant arbitrage. He joined Jardine Fleming in 1993 as a member of the securities lending department in Hong Kong. Toby has a Bachelor of Sciences degree from Southampton University, United Kingdom. He has obtained qualifications in financial derivatives and financial engineering, as a broker's representative and as an options/futures trading officer with the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong. He is a patron of HOPE for Children, and dedicates time to philanthropic pursuits in Asia.

Paul Metcalfe has worked in the supply of content and workflow solutions to the Wealth Management industry for over 15 years and is based in New York. He was the CEO of Starquote, the market data division of Canadian based CGI.    Following acquisition by Thomson Reuters, Paul has worked in a number of roles in the Wealth Management Division and currently is responsible for the Global Wealth Management Online proposition.  Thomson Reuters is a global market leader in the provision of back office brokerage service bureau processing, market data content and other Wealth Management work flow tools.

Paul did an undergraduate degree at Cardiff University and spent the first part of his career at Deloitte.

Chris Faddy is Managing Director and Head of Distribution for Managed Investments - Asia Pacific at BNY Mellon. He is responsible for driving business development for the company’s new managed accounts offering throughout the region. He is also responsible for identifying and developing relationships with local asset management firms, as well as building out the wholesale sales team and overseeing local marketing efforts.
 
Chris has over 22 years of financial services and asset management experience. Most recently, he was Managing Director, Head of Distribution for Asia, excluding Japan, at Credit Suisse Asset Management in Singapore and was a member of the regional leadership team. Prior to this, Chris was Director, Head of Distribution at Barclays Capital Fund Solutions, Asia, where he led the fund and managed accounts business for all channels across Asia. He was also previously an Executive Director with Goldman Sachs JBWere in Australia. Earlier in his career, he held other senior business development roles with Skandia and BT Portfolio Services.

Chris is a fellow of The Financial Services Institute of Australia (Finsia). He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from The Australian National University, Australia and a Graduate Diploma (Funds Management) from Finsia.

Lemuel Lee is Deputy Head of Investment Services, Asia Pacific and Head of Investment Services, Hong Kong for BNP Paribas Wealth Management. Based in Hong Kong, he is responsible for overseeing the delivery of the Bank’s investment offering and advisory to clients in Hong Kong across traditional and digital channels, the development of discretionary and advisory services as well as the advancement of new initiatives. Lemuel has over 15 years of investment banking and wealth management experience. Prior to joining BNP Paribas, he was Head of Equities, Asia for J.P. Morgan Private Bank. He also held a long tenure of 8 years with J.P. Morgan Corporate & Investment Bank, assuming various leadership positions in equity derivatives distribution and marketing. Before joining J.P. Morgan, he was with Bear Stearns and Bank of America Merrill Lynch in capital markets roles across Hong Kong, Japan, London and New York. Lemuel holds a Master in Commerce and Master of International Business at University of Sydney, and also a Bachelors of Commerce and Bachelors of Laws at University of New South Wales.

Harmen Overdijk is Chief Investment Officer of Leo Wealth, a Hong Kong based asset management firm focused on fee-based asset management. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) holder and has an MSc in economics from Tilburg University, The Netherlands.
