PIMCO poaches Stephen Chang from J.P. Morgan

PIMCO has appointed Stephen Chang as Executive Vice President and Portfolio Manager for its Asia business.

PIMCO has appointed Stephen Chang as Executive Vice President and Portfolio Manager for its Asia business, the fixed income investment manager announced via a press release.

Based in Hong Kong, Chang will lead PIMCO’s Asia Portfolio Management team and the firm’s dedicated fixed income portfolios in Asia effective May 7.

Chang was most recently at J.P. Morgan Asset Management, where he was Managing Director and Head of Asian Fixed Income.

Chang will report to Rob Mead and Tomoya Masanao, both Managing Directors and Co-heads of Portfolio Management in Asia Pacific. He will also report to Mohit Mittal, the firm's US-based Managing Director and Portfolio Manager.

He will also work closely with PIMCO’s Asian Credit Research team, which is led by Raja Mukherji, Executive Vice President and Head of Asian Credit Research, the statement said.
  
PIMCO said that it has hired more than 600 new employees since 2016, including 139 investment professionals, and has plans to hire 200 more employees in 2018.
