Mark Smallwood is a Managing Director, and is Head of Franchise Development and Strategic Initiatives for Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management (Deutsche AWM) in Asia Pacific (APAC).
He is a member of the Deutsche AWM APAC Executive Committee, the Wealth Management APAC Management Committee and the Deutsche Bank Asia Group Relationship Management Committee.
In his current role he is responsible for developing and executing Deutsche AWM and “One Bank” client engagement activities with our Corporate Banking & Securities business and our Global Transaction Banking business, identifying and closing knowledge gaps within Deutsche AWM, and raising the profile of Deutsche AWM with external stakeholders.
He has been with Deutsche Bank since 2003, when he spent six years in Geneva as Global Head of Insurance Solutions before moving to Singapore where he spent five years as Head of Wealth Planning for APAC.
After four years as an infantry officer in the British Army, Mark worked as an independent financial advisor with Sedgwick Group in London (now part of Marsh Inc.) for six years.
He spent nearly nine years in the Caribbean where he established a multi-family office which included an insurance company, trust company, corporate services business and asset management company, and sold this in 2003 to take up a role with Deutsche Bank in Geneva, Switzerland.
Having been born in Singapore and raised in Hong Kong, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur as a child, Mark is not unfamiliar with Asia, his wife is Chinese and he has a home in Guilin, Guangxi, China.
