Vipul Kapur joined Mashreq as the head of Private Banking after 25 years of working with Citibank. In Citi, he built his professional career specializing in Consumer banking and Private wealth management.

He was responsible for establishing new markets in Mena & Europe and managed several international businesses including as Global head of the NRI Wealth business, head of the Consumer bank for UK and head of the Citi IPB, Private client wealth business for EMEA.

Vipul has significant experience in building businesses, change management, strategic development, mentoring Fintech start-ups, implementing technology platforms, nurturing talent and designing business & operational strategies with strong risk & corporate governance culture.

He has worked across several countries and regions including India, Singapore, Dubai, Bahrain and most recently London.

He joined Citibank India in 1991 and held product and business positions in Credit cards & Branch banking businesses. In 1994, he was appointed as the wealth management Product head for Citibank India and was instrumental in introducing a broad range of wealth management products. He set up the first 3rd party mutual fund distribution tie-ups and developed specialized fixed income products to be offered through their distribution channels.

He moved to the Non Resident Indian (NRI) business in Dubai in 1996 where he first set up their wealth management business and then enhanced his responsibilities to manage Global NRI Business.

As head of the UK Consumer & IPB private wealth business for EMEA he was responsible for managing and developing a long term growth strategy for the two businesses including restructuring and repositioning the businesses to a digital and best is class wealth business for affluent clients across EMEA.

Vipul holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and finance degrees from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India & Institute of Cost & management accountants of India.

Prior to joining Citi, he was an audit manager with Lovelock & Lewes (Coopers & Lybrand) Chartered accountants in India.
