High Growth Fixed income ETF Market Shines its Light into Asia
Ecaterina Bigos, Vice President, iShares Fixed Income Product, Asia Pacific for global investment management group BlackRock, presented a Workshop on the explosive growth of the global fixed income ETF market, the reasons why and how investors in Asia are increasingly using them in their portfolios.
Matthews Asia shines a light for active investment strategies
A workshop led by Jeremy Sutch, the senior small-cap analyst for Matthews Asia elucidated to delegates that Matthews Asia has been investing in Asia's small-cap stocks since the firm's inception in 1991. More than 25 years later, the firm sticks to its active management, bottom-up strategy. For the firm's small-companies strategy, this philosophy is reaping solid rewards. Sutch had earlier in the day also made a presentation, which we include as a box article within the Workshop report. The theme of the presentation was advocating the active approach in a world of more and more passive investment vehicles. Driverless cars might be the next thing on our roads, just as driverless investment vehicles such as ETFs are ever more proliferating in the global financial markets. But, people will still want to drive their own cars, just as investors still want to buy into actively managed funds.
Offering Clients a Global Platform and Tailored Selection Services
Basim El-Shoura, Allfunds Bank’s Investment Solutions Specialist who covers Asia, presented a Workshop on the Allfunds platform, on the rise of outsourcing by wealth managers and how the firm’s investment team also selects the most suitable funds for its global client base.
Managed Accounts: Ideally Suited to Asia’s Investment Management Needs
Anthony J. Harper, CEO & Co-Founder of Axial Partners presented a Workshop on the appeal of managed accounts, which are tailored, transparent investment vehicles for individual wealth clients. The market is now worth $5 trillion in the US alone, and Asian wealth managers and investors are increasingly warming to them as they understand their many advantages.
