Profile:

Richard McGillivray joined CFA Institute in June 2013, and is a Director in our global Institutional Partnerships division. He identifies and works with companies across Asia Pacific who use CFA Institute’s programs and services to contribute to their clients’ and their employees’ success.

Richard brings a unique blend of relevant experience in investment management and education to this assignment. Prior to CFA Institute, he has been Asia Head of Investor Relations for a UK-headquartered asset management business for whom he built and supported a broad client base including private and retail banks, institutions, fund of funds and family offices in the Asia Pacific region, where he has lived for the past 16 years. Prior to that, he worked for nearly 20 years in the field of adult and workplace education in Asia Pacific and southern Africa.

He has worked across a number of sectors in this capacity, including financial services, media and law, partnered with and for several Hong Kong universities, as well as in teacher professional development in the formal schools sector. In southern Africa, he worked in operations management of workplace adult education in the private sector as well as for NGOs and aid agencies.

A trained teacher and adult educator, Richard has a post-graduate HDE and Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He was SFC licensed nd a Responsible Oficer for the asset management business that he worked for in Hong Kong.
